Diamond Candle Review and Giveaway!

After a long summer of classes, I needed something fun as a little "reward" for my hard work.  I was looking for something fun and unique.  I was approached at just the perfect time by Diamond Candles to do a review and giveaway of their product.  I honestly had never heard of them before.  So, after checking out their website and doing a little search, I was fully on board to try them out!  I like surprises, I love jewelry, and I missed having candles in the house.  So, this was perfect!

Conscious Box Review and Giveaway!!

It has been a while since I have done a review and giveaway.  So, I knew that I wanted to introduce you all to something really cool and really different to get back into the swing of things.  That's when I found Conscious Box.  Conscious Box is an online shop where you can order a subscription box every month to learn about new and wonderful products.  Whether you are Gluten-Free, Vegan, or just eco-conscious/crunchy/natural, they have a box that will fit your lifestyle.

I had a lot of fun checking out my goodie box from Conscious Box.  I had a mix of Gluten-Free snacks, sensitive baby lotion, air freshener and floor cleaner, and refreshing facial cleanser.  Everything inside was trial size, but it let me get a good experience from the products.  Some of them I liked a lot and others I probably wouldn't have a need for or choose to use regularly.  Then, I went to their website and I could find the full size products that I liked in my box.  I could also find other products that are eco-friendly.  It is a really great resource to find products that fit into your needs and preferred way of living.  The only thing that I will comment on is that in my box, the Gluten-Free products were all labeled saying that they were processed in facilities that process nuts and wheat products.  So, if you have Celiacs or other gluten or nut intolerance or allergies, please read the labels carefully even if it says "gluten-free".  Cross contamination could still be a problem even if it's not made with gluten or nuts.

So, what you do is go to their website, and subscribe to the type of box that you want.  You can choose a monthly, 3 month, 6 month, or 1 year subscription.  Then once a month, they mail you a goodie box full of different things to try out and coupons for some of the products in your box.  If you find something that you really like, then you can go out and buy more...but you're not stuck with a big bottle of something that you don't like.  This gives you a chance to try out the different products without having to commit to it.  The best part is that they keep track of what they send you, so you will get different things every month.

Now, here's the really fun part.  I have TWO great things to share with you.  First, you can try Conscious Box right now for FREE!  Use the code "FIRSTBOXFREE" and make sure to tell them that I sent you over.   You do have to pay shipping, but you'll get a really fun box full of fun goodies with no commitment to continue.  You can cancel all of your subscriptions at any time.

The second part is that one lucky OTTW reader will get the chance to win a special box of their very own!  Just enter in the Rafflecopter form below.

Kebbie's Diaper Bag - Bubbz Review, Coupon Code AND Giveaway! - CLOSED

We are nearing the end of our pocket diaper days, and I am going out with a BANG!  I think I have found the best pocket diapers for our kids.  Kebbie's Diaper Bag carries a line of diapers called Bubbz diapers.  They are an amazing line of diapers that, in my opinion, have everything that the perfect pocket diaper need.  They have a high quality double gusset; not just cheap sewn in elastic, but really well constructed gussets.  They have durable and high quality microfleece for the inner; super soft and doesn't get too pilly.  They also use TPU which is more environmentally friendly than it's PUL counterpart.  The elastic is also very high quality; super stretchy, firm, yet doesn't leave red marks!  And to top it all off....not only are they are very affordable, but they have the cutest prints too!!

So, now that I have told you about how amazing this line of diapers is, I am very excited to tell you about the upgrades that have been made from the Bubbz 2.0 to make the new Bubbz 3.0!

Glow Bug Cloth Diaper Review AND Giveaway!! - CLOSED

My cloth diaper addiction over the last 2 years has primarily circulated around pocket style cloth diapers.  I thought I had seen every style of pocket diaper that could be made.  Then I came across Glow Bug Cloth Diapers!  Even though they look a lot like many of the other pocket diaper brands out there, they have some very subtle and, in my opinion, ingenious differences.

Breathable Baby Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED

There has been a lot of talk over the years about how unsafe traditional crib bumpers can be.  But yet, we still use them because that's what has always been done, right?  Well, there really is a better alternative!  Something better than the thick padding and broken straps because we don't untie them to put new sheets on.

Earth Mama Angel Baby Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED

Earth Mama Angel Baby is an amazing all natural, organic product company.  I first found EMAB when The Raconteur Daddy gave me the best Christmas present ever!  It was when I was pregnant with Little Man.  He bought me the Heartburn Tea, Third Trimester Tea, and Natural Nipple Butter...along with a Boppy Wedge pillow.  I still swear by the Heartburn Tea and share it with all my family when they are complaining about heartburn because it works even if you're not pregnant!  In fact, I share all of the products that I've tried with family and friends.

LilyPadz Review and Giveaway!

It's been a while since we've had a fun giveaway.  I am very excited to get to share these with you all.

LilyPadz are a unique breastfeeding accessory.  They are for keeping you and your clothes dry from unexpected leaks.  The best part is that they are made not to absorb extra milk, like regular pads, but to keep you from leaking in the first place.  They work very simply.  First, you open the package.  Then you remove a pad from it's protective shield.  Then while it's inverted, you apply the middle to you, press down and apply it from center to edge.  This creates a pressure that will cause you to not leak.  To nurse, you simply remove the pad, place it on it's shield and then nurse.  There is nothing to clean off of you before nursing.  If your pad has a little residue on it, you can wipe it off with a LilyWipe and let it dry before reapplying.  Then, once a day, you wash your pad with LilyWash to keep the adhesive side tacky.

LilyPadz are safe and hypoallergenic.  They are made with medical grade silicone.  You can use nipple creams with the use of the LilyPadz; just be careful to only apply it to the nipple area because the oils can cause the adhesive properties to break down.

What I really love about the LilyPadz is the ease of use.  I also really like that they are comfortable to apply and to remove.  When they are on, they sit comfortably under any shirt or bra.  There is no rubbing or irritation.  This makes it very comfortable for sore nipples.  I am most excited that they compress the nipple, so they will be very useful under tight clothing or when dressing up so that I don't "show" under my shirt.  I plan on using them when dressing up even after nursing for that reason.  They are very comfortable.

One thing that I noticed with them is that I tend to sweat underneath them.  This was uncomfortable for me in the first 6 weeks because I had small cracks on my nipples from nursing.  This also dried up my nipples because of the salt that was on them, so nursing after taking them off burned a little.  But, I have very sensitive skin and I usually have a very hard time with any adhesives.  Even though this happened, I would still use them  through the day.  I also know that this is not a normal reaction.  I had a few friends who used LilyPadz and they never had the same sweating problem like I did.  They really enjoyed them and wore them all day and all night.

One lucky reader is going to get a chance to try it out for themselves!  LilyPadz is providing a LilyPadz Starter Kit.  It includes a LilyPadz set, a drawstring bag for your pads, the LilyWash and a box of LilyWipes.  Winners will be drawn at 12 am EST on January 2nd, 2012.

Sweetamagoos Review and Giveaway! CLOSED

I am rounding out Week 32 with our third baby, Peanut.  I started having a little problem with some leaky nummies a few weeks back.  So I put word out and my good blogger friend, Mummies Nummies, put me in contact with Sweetamagoos!  She told me that she was trying out some ideas for washable nursing pads.  I was excited.  I told her about all the things that I hate about reusable nursing pads and she magically found out a way to make the perfect nursing pad!

Her nursing pads are contoured, but there is no seam on the inside layer.  I think this is wonderful because then you don't get the annoying raw feeling when a seam rubs wrong on your tender nummies.  The fabric that she uses is plush and soft.  I love that they are cream on the outside, but have a cute zebra print on the inside. I always feel that just because your 'girls' are working, doesn't mean that they have to stop feeling feminine too.
Inside
Outside

I kept forgetting that I even had them in.  In the extremely hot weather we've been having, I never got hot or sticky feeling.  They were very comfortable.  I have to admit that I'm leaking a little bit and these do a good job of absorbing that.  I'm curious to see how well they handle the heavy leaking that comes after baby arrives.  I think that they could possibly use an extra interior layer that could be made from hemp or something like that to give a little more 'oompf' when needed for absorbency.  But I will have to let you know if that would be necessary when the time comes.

Now, I have to admit that my nummy makers are not the biggest.  I'm just your average C (on a good day).  So most reusable pads I find are made very big and don't fit comfortably into my mid-range bras.  These are sized just right.  They are big enough to cover for my more well endowed sisters, yet small enough to be comfortable for us less fortunate ladies.  They are also very discreet under my favorite "foundations".

Sweetamagoos has generously offered one lucky reader $10 towards anything in her Etsy store.

To celebrate, I'm going to do my very first Rafflecopter Entry form!

Tommee Tippee Sippy Cup Review and Giveaway!!! - CLOSED

I have had the opportunity to work with an amazing company that makes amazing products.  When Little Man was starting to take a bottle at 6 months, I had a hard time finding one that he could use without affecting his latch on me.  I found the Tommee Tippee bottles and immediately fell in love.  The shape is amazing and they fit in small bags so well.  The nipple is perfect and has a pressure release valve on it so he can continuously eat without interruption, like when he would nurse.  He also never got gassy with them.

Tommee Tippee sent me two awesome Explora Li'l Sippee flip top straw cups to try out.  When we received them, I couldn't get the package open fast enough.  Then Little Man stood at my side while I boiled and washed each piece so he could start using them.  He was so excited.

I love the design of the sippy cup.  The flip top lid is easy to open, but it also stays shut too!  The straw portion is oval in shape and folds down into the flip top.  The shape is also great for those little people who are just getting used to using a straw.  The inside of the straw also has a leak valve in it.  When there is pressure on the straw, it opens up.  It closes when there is no pressure, allowing no spills to occur even when open!

The only complaints that I have about the sippy cups is that it is difficult to take apart and clean.  The straw is awkward to get into the top once it is taken out and the flip top lid is very difficult to take off and put on again (I couldn't even pull it off for the picture).  On the other hand, they are dishwasher and microwave safe!  So they could easily be sterilized.  The other complaint that I have is the same one that I have of all straw sippy cups that I have tried over the last 9 years.  The straw end falls off in the cup.  This is annoying because you have to open it up and fish it out to put it back on so that they can drink.  It is also easy to lose the straw when it falls off in the cupboards.  I've found that if I readjust the hard straw and really push it into the soft straw part that it stays unless it gets bumped, so it's not as bad as others I've used.

We choose to use ours for our daily water bottles.  It is great because Little Man and Sweet Pea both have great sippy cups to take when running errands and when playing around the house.  I never have to worry about spills or messes; plus I know that they are getting the extra water that they need on these hot summer days!

I think that the great design and the ease of use far exceeds the minor complaints that I have about it.  Tommee Tippee again receives this Trophy Wife's approval!  I don't think I've come across a Tommee Tippee product that I didn't love yet!
The last complaint I have has nothing to do with the cups, but I really wish that Tommee Tippee would release to more places than Babies R' Us.  I really don't like to shop at that store and none of my family members live close to one, so the only way to get anything is online.  On the other hand, if you don't have a Babies R' Us store near you, but you want to learn more about the Tommee Tippee products, they have a page full of links to informative reviews of their products here.

Ruby Moon Detergent Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED

To round out this month celebration of my cloth diaper favorites is one of the most important things for cloth diapering parents besides the diapers.....Cloth Diaper Laundry Detergent!!!!

I stumbled upon Ruby Moon in my long search for different kinds of natural detergents.  I was drawn to Ruby Moon products because of her experience with mainstream detergents was like mine.  I also love to purchase WAHM detergents and lotions because I've found that they use high quality ingredients with allergies in mind.

We received our bag of Ruby Moon cloth diaper detergent in the scent of Sweet Clementine.  I loved how light, tangy and not too overpowering the scent was.  It is such a refreshing smell.  The powder is a nice fine powder and not sticky at all.

We are currently in an area that has moderate hard water but we have a water softener.  I tried out Ruby Moon and realized there was a big build up of minerals and other detergents from our extreme hard water at home.  It took two wash cycles with 2-3 tbsp of detergent each for the diapers to smell clean in the washer.  I was shocked to see them so white, but even better than that they were all so fluffy too!  I haven't found my normal routine with any of our detergents yet with the new water and washer, plus I think that the extreme heat and humidity doesn't help either.  I am so grateful to have the Ruby Moon though, because it has made stripping my diapers a breeze!  To strip with Ruby Moon I do my cold rinse, followed by two hot wash cycles with 2-3 tbsp of Ruby Moon in each.  They come out so clean, soft and smelling fresh.  It works so much better than any other way to strip that I've found, plus it takes less time and less washing and rinsing cycles!

Ruby Moon Natural Detergent has graciously offered one lucky reader a chance to win a bag of Ruby Moon detergent of their own!

Boo-Hiney Butter Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

This week I'm taking some time to talk about diaper creams and rashes.  We've been very lucky that we haven't had to deal with diaper rashes and I attribute that greatly to the use of cloth diapers.  The two rashes that we have had to deal with were not your standard diaper rash.  One was an enzyme burn caused by my naivety at the start of our cloth diapering days by using a 'Free and Clear' detergent.  I soon learned better.  The second was an irritation rash caused by PUL rubbing directly on the skin.  It was cleared in two days with the help of a little hydro cortisone.   Outside of that, we do deal with an occasional pinkness on the bottom.

I started researching diaper creams that were safe for cloth diaper use after the irritation rash.  I have a big allergy to lanolin and aloe, so finding a cream that left those ingredients out was hard to do.  I was about to give up the search until I met the maker of Boo-Hiney Butter!  She was telling me about her search for the perfect cloth diaper cream was getting frustrating and that is what led her to start making her own.  She uses all natural oils and butters with essential oils to make her diaper cream.  She told me that her goal was to not only have a natural product that would heal baby's skin, but also one that wouldn't build up on cloth diapers even with daily uses.

She graciously sent me a jar to try out.  I am always skeptical of new products because of our varying skin sensitivities between myself and the kids.  I have to say that I was excited when I first opened that beautiful blue jar.  The cream on the inside is dense yet whipped.  It leaves a nice light and creamy feel on your skin.  It soaks in really well and doesn't leave the skin sticky.  The scent that I have is the Tea Tree and Lavender.  It is a very light scent and well balanced between the tea tree and lavender (which I find can both be very powerful scents).  She also has her cream in an Orange scent which I am excited to try out when I buy my next jar.

I love using this on Little Man.  It leaves a nice scent and it helps take away the redness.  It also has helped keep any irritation rashes at bay.  I was impressed after a few weeks of continual use that it really didn't build up or leave a mess on the cloth diapers!

I personally love to use it too.  With my growing belly, I get itchy red bumps near my existing stretch marks (or my badges of honor).  I love to take a little on my finger tip and rub it on my belly.  A little bit goes a long way.  Instantly, my itchy spots are no longer itchy and the redness fades.  After a few uses, they are gone.  Here are some pictures to show you.  I took the one on the top, then I applied the cream and immediately took the one on the bottom.  (I thought this would be more appropriate to show than a baby bottom.)

Boo-Hiney Butter has graciously offered one lucky reader a chance to win a 2 oz. jar of Boo-Hiney Butter.

Natural Wipe Spray Review and Giveaway! - CLOSED!

This week is all about wipe sprays!  I had never used a wipe spray until just recently, but I will talk about that more as the week progresses.

I did a lot of research on wipe sprays and all the differences between them.  Cloth Diaper, Inc. contacted me and told me that they made an all natural wipe spray.  I was amazed when I looked it up and saw the simplicity of their ingredients!  It was exactly what I was looking for.....but would it really work?

They have two different formulas to choose from: Tea Tree and Lavender, and Geranium and Sweet Orange. Lately, I have been a little turned off by Lavender scents, so we opted to try out the Geranium and Sweet Orange because I do love Orange scents.  I didn't know what to expect with the mix of Geranium and I was worried that it would be too floral of a scent.  To my pleasant surprise, the scent is very light, somewhat sweet and tangy.  It is perfect!

We use it by spraying one or two squirts right onto Little Man during changes and then wiping with a damp cloth wipe.  I was surprised how well it worked to clean everything off.  Plus, the pleasant smell makes not only him, but his room smell nice.  I also love that there is witch hazel in it.  This helps relieve any redness on his little bottom.  He hasn't shown signs of tenderness since we started using it!  Little Man loves it when we use it too.  I think because it is cool on the skin.  We don't use it with every diaper change, but about every other and especially with messy changes.

We love how easy it is to throw it in the diaper bag as we're heading out the door.  It works so well and it is so easy to use.  This Trophy Wife is addicted now and I just love this stuff!

Cloth Diaper, Inc. has graciously offered a lucky reader the chance to get a Natural Wipe Spray of their own!
