Peanut's First Birthday

This year has swept by me in a flurry.  I have enjoyed every minute of it with our family now complete.  For Peanut's birthday this year, I decided to throw a feminine Halloween themed birthday.  It was so much fun, and I figured it wouldn't be long until she decides to not celebrate Halloween for her birthday and we'll be on to Princess themed birthdays.  I wanted to soak it up as long as I can....since Halloween is my favorite holiday of the entire year.

Anecdotes of my kids....

I love how my kids have such a great sense of humor.  That's something that I think you're born with.  Sweet Pea and Little Man are both really great at telling jokes.  I love it when Little Man tells me his favorite knock knock jokes....even when he tells the same one 10 times in a row.  (He is only 2 years old.)

But what I love the most is when they are unintentionally funny.  Those little things that they do for the first time that are just so cute....until you realize that it won't be cute when they are 12.  So, I thought I'd share a few with you from this week.

Yeastie Beasties!

I have been fortunate enough to go a full 9 years without having to deal with the dreaded yeast rash on my kids.  Peanut had a yeast rash when she was just 1 week old.  It was due to the heavy antibiotics that I was on after her birth.  That poor baby had the most red, cracked skin that I have ever seen.  She was miserable and it took over a month for it to clear up.  She went through 3 different kinds of diaper creams and I used a special nipple cream too.  Hence, our cloth diapering days were short.  We did use disposables throughout the time that it took for it to clear up because I knew that cloth diapers and yeast rashes don't mix.  I did, however, use cloth with thick liners too.

Toddlers and Babies

There is a real finesse when it comes to having babies so close to each other.  Little Man and Peanut are only 19 months apart from each other.  While there is 8 years in between Sweet Pea and Little Man.  We were excited when we unexpectedly found out about Peanut.  Having our two little ones so close together meant that they would grow up not knowing life without each other.  This made me very excited because, while there will be some forms of sibling rivalry, for the most part they could be two peas in a pod.  It also means that their schedules will be fairly similar.  We were also worried too because that means there will be two little people who will depend on us for almost everything at the same time.  We knew we'd have our hands full!

Peanut Update

Hello Everyone!

I am finding out new things day by day about what happened on Sunday.  Peanut was transverse, so there was no way to try to get her to turn after my water broke and we didn't know that she wasn't in the correct position before hand.  Because of her positioning though, it made the Cesarean very tough for the doctors.  RacDad was there with me and he said that it was very surreal to see four hands working around inside my body, trying to retrieve Peanut.  She gave them quite the fight.  That is why it took the doctors an hour and a half to do the repairs and get me out of surgery.  That is also why my recovery is taking so long.

Things are getting better day by day though.  Today I was able to get out of bed by myself to go to the bathroom.  I was also able to stand by myself to take a shower.  I guess it's the little things that you can take for granted that can become such big milestones.  I'm still having a hard time managing the pain.  Yesterday, they thought that I was getting an infection because of my elevated temperature, white blood count and heart rates....plus by blood pressure was low too.  So I was started on a new IV and had fluids and antibiotics all day yesterday and all day today.  Luckily, they took the fluids off tonight so I can have a little freedom between antibiotic drips.

Peanut is perfect though.  She has great coloring and has only lost a few ounces in the last few days.  She nurses like a Pro!  She latches on perfectly every time and I have not had any pain with it.  I never knew that nursing could be easy from the start.  I always had at least 6 weeks of really bad problems nursing my first two...but it's was worth sticking with it.  I will try to get a few more pictures up for you all to see soon.
