Marriage Equality

One of the things that I love in this world is the ability to have friends and family that I can disagree with and still love, to have people that test my knowledge and beliefs for the better, and to be able to become a better person because of the amazing people that touch my life. You don't have to agree with me and I don't have to agree with you, but that doesn't mean that I will treat you any less and I expect the same in return.

I SUPPORT GAY MARRIAGE!

There....I said it.  Now here is why I support gay marriage.

The reason that I support gay marriage has nothing to do with my religious beliefs. It's because as an American, I feel that every other American citizen has a right to be governed by the same laws that I live by and exercise the same rights that I have. I was allowed to get married, and I get great Federal and State benefits because I am married. So, I think anyone else deserves the same because I would be hell-bent if anyone told me that I couldn't do something that other people are allowed to do in the eyes of our government just because of my religion, gender, race, sexual orientation, or disability.

  1. Yes! Thank you. I think that if people have a hard time giving LBTG people the "right" to get married, and have the same Federal and State benefits that straight people get, solely based on religious reasons, then maybe we need to make "marriage" a solely religious thing in our country and take away the Federal and State benefits from everyone. That would level the field and make it equal. BUT, how many people who are against it would be willing to give up those benefits?
