Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. What a wonderful occasion to express love and caring to family and friends. It is not necessary to break the budget with expensive jewelry, hot house flowers, or dinner at a fancy restaurant. Those items can be nice, but there are many ways to create a meaningful and memorable Valentine’s Day without breaking the bank.
Everyone appreciates a handmade Valentine. Get the kids involved and use simple supplies such as decorative papers and markers to create personal messages for loved ones. Be creative and write poetry to go inside the cards or cut words and pictures from magazines to make a Valentine collage.

Beat the traffic and plan a romantic date night at home. If there are young children in the house, begin date night after the children are in bed. The important thing is to be spending the time together with that special someone. Play a favorite board game. Watch romantic comedies—or watch a horror movie to have an excuse to snuggle up close!
However, not everyone is fortunate enough to be with loved ones, so take time to remember friends and neighbors who might enjoy a Valentine. To show special love to a serving loved one, send over a valentine’s themed care package, Skype, or make a long distance shout-out. No matter what, try and be close the 14th. There are several organizations that will help in sending Valentines to the amazing military personnel away from home. Hugs for Our Soldiers, Any Soldier, and other groups can help send over a special package for your loved one or anything you would like to donate to the troops.
Allie is our guest post writer today. She is a fun-loving, adventurous being. She went to school to become a biomedical anthropologist and every since graduation that has consumed her life. She normally writes about natural health and such but every since her boyfriend got word that he will deploy soon, she has been in this kick to write about how to manage life and all the little things it likes to throw at you. She doesn’t have any little ones of her own yet, but she babysits a ton for friends, so she has wannabe kids. She recently started a blog of her own. It is very new but it is called Musings of a Curious Mind.
